LAKE CAMINSCANANE:
Opened in 1992, this camp is located in the heart of the
Cree trapping grounds, and on one of the most magnificent scenic
areas of the North Country. A chain of five lakes extending
through a small river system of nearly 20 miles has made
Caminscanane one of our most popular camps. It is home to an
immense school of exceptionally large Walleye up to 10 pounds
along with a unique strain of "Blue " Walleye that inhabit the
structures of this lake system. Northern Pike are ever present
with many released over 45" in 97. The 16' x 24' cabin
accommodates up to 6 . The boats are 14' & 16' Big Lake Lunds, with 15
HP motors. This trip runs Friday to Friday.
ABOUT OUR CAMP MANAGERS:
North American Bushman boasts one of the most professional teams
anywhere! Our trained personnel are well versed in the area
geography, watercraft, first aid, and wilderness survival
techniques. They have a comprehensive knowledge of the wildlife
and fish movement during all seasons. General camp duties are
included in our package, however they are available for personal
guiding at a nominal fee. David Dery, our operations manager, will greet you at the airbase for loading and last minute questions before departing on othe float plane for a trip of a lifetime.
LAKE EVANS:
Since it was opened in 1990, Lake Evans has gained the legendary
reputation for unexcelled trophy Pike and Walleye fishing. The
massive size and structure of the lake, coupled with the no kill
policy on Pike make Lake Evans one of the very best fisheries in
North America. We have built three outpost camps with 30 miles
of water between each camp to assure you the secluded privacy not
available at lodges or multiple outposts. With the exception of
the camp manager, who stays in separate quarters, you are alone!
We do have new two way radios in all of our camps in the event of
an emergency.
CROW BAY:
This camp is located in an 8 mile long bay which opens up into
the main body of Lake Evans. The bay is formed by the world
famous Broadback River, whose mighty rapids are located 2 miles
from the camp, and are home of large Walleye, trophy Pike, and
the Assinica Strain of Brook Trout that has made the Broadback
River known to many anglers. Moose and Caribou sightings are
common throughout the fishing season. It produced three 51" pike in 97 with many released 40 to 46".
The cabin is a 20' x 24'
and accommodates up to eight people. The 16' Big Lake Lund boats
with 15 HP motors make your daily fishing safe and comfortable.
SOUTHWEST BAY:
Located on the south side of Lake Evans, it is noted for its
accessibility to the vast Lake Evans fishery. Dozens of Northern
Pike from 15 to 30 lbs are caught and released to these waters
weekly. Walleye ranging from 1.5 to 4 lbs are numerous around
the points and islands to the south of the camp in the bay. The
20'x 24' cabin has separate bunks for eight persons. The boats
are 16' Big Laker Lunds with 15 HP motors. As in all of our camps, your camp manager stays in his own quarters.
KIRK ISLAND:
Opened in 1993, this tent camp is located on the Broadback River
as it leaves Lake Evans. Built on a scenic bay on the river, it
is well protected from the winds of the large lake. Trophy Pike
up to 32 lbs and Walleye up to 6 lbs are numerous around the bays
and points of the north end of Lake Evans. Wildlife around the
North end of Evans abound, with several Osprey families returning
to their nesting grounds each year. The cabin accommodates up to
8 with the same 16' Big Lake Lund boats and 15HP motors as the
other camps.
